Make it clear as to who you want to post there. If it's a role-play, you could specify whether you don't mind who joins or how many, right through to just a one-on-one rp. If its a piece of creative writing, you could ask me to lock the forum so it's literally read-only, or you could ask for any comments, or just suggestions on how to improve.
If it's an rp:
Make it clear how you want the characters introduced. You could ask for certain fields (you'd need to specify these) or a descriptive introductory post. You can use stats if you want, but not all people rp like this, so it might be difficult to find people to rp with you.
Make it clear what the rp is about.
Give a good description of the surroundings. Make this detailed enough to be sufficient for people not to have to ask questions about where the characters are. It makes things run much more smoothly. You could provide a simple map if you think this might help.
